Queens of the Stone Age (often abbreviated as QOTSA) is an American rock band formed in 1996 in Palm Desert, California, by vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme following the breakup of his former band Kyuss. Over the years, the band has become known for its distinctive mix of heavy, riff-driven rock, hypnotic rhythms, and experimental elements that draw from stoner rock, alternative rock, and psychedelia. Their breakthrough came with the album Rated R (2000), which earned them critical acclaim and a wider audience, before Songs for the Deaf (2002) turned them into international stars with tracks like “No One Knows” and “Go with the Flow.” Since then, the band has continued to evolve, blending heavy guitar walls with groove-oriented basslines, dark melodies, and unexpected pop and electronic touches.
